This is the hilarious moment a female surfer gets wiped out as she tries to stand up on a flowrider.

The woman, named only as Katie, gets dragged across the machine by the waves before the lifeguard helps her to her feet in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania.

But as she tries to sort out her swim shorts she puts her weight on her right leg and is pushed over by the force of the water.

She is quickly swept up the soaking ramp and out of sight, before she pops her head up and sees the lifeguard laughing at her.

A male member of her family is next to have a go and fairs little better.

Like the woman, he starts of on his stomach on a bodyboard and slowly glides backwards with the waves.

He gets on to his knee but is blasted by a torrent of water that hits him square in the face.

As he continues to try to get to his feet, he is shoved over by the powerful water jets and sent tumbling towards the back of the ride.

The filmer said: ‘While we were on a family weekend getaway at Split Rock Resort we had talked my sister-in-law Katie into trying out the flow-rider.

‘After a poor attempt at it, she handed the board off and thought ”Oh I’ll just walk right through this rushing water” and Woosh! the water knocked her off her feet and washed her up to the top.’
