A mountain lion snuck inside a California high school, shocking students and teachers before it was confined in a classroom. 

The bizarre incident occurred Wednesday at Pescadero High School around 8:20 a.m., The Mercury News reported. 

The mountain lion, which police later said was a cub, entered school grounds before classes had started. 

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports that the lion was under a desk in an English classroom.

Students and staff were removed from the school unharmed, authorities confirmed in a tweet. 

The lion was eventually confined in one of the classrooms, NBC reported. 

California Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived around 9:30 a.m. to the school. 

‘They are currently formulating a plan to safely and humanely release the animal back into wild,’ the Sheriff’s Office said.
