Shocking footage has captured the moment a motorist narrowly avoided a head-on crash after racing through a suburban road in Birmingham.

The terrifying near-miss took place on Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill, last Friday.

Footage shows the black Volkswagen Golf as it soars past Muneer Khan, 39, before almost crashing head-first into another car emerging from a junction.

The second car abruptly stops, honking its horn at the reckless driver who continues down the road at an estimated 50mph – believed to be above the speed limit.

The dashcam clip comes to an end as Mr Khan turns left off Coleshill Road.

The VW almost collided with a traffic island as it overtook Mr Khan, and later drove directly into the oncoming lane as it attempted to avoid a collision.

Mr Khan said: ‘I took a right from Southbourne Avenue. This Golf came at such speed, and it overtook me dangerously.

‘The vehicle coming out of Ventnor Avenue judged my speed and pulled out accordingly but the black 58 Reg VW Golf almost took out that vehicle.’

He added: ‘What the f*** someone could have died today.’
