As Hollywood megastars go, Matthew McConaughey somehow manages to be completely contemporary and comfortingly classic. He can do it all — rom-coms, dramas, biopics, period pieces, studio blockbusters, critically adored indies and prestige television — as magnetic leading man or crackerjack character player. An off-the-top-of-the-head recounting — Magic Mike, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Wolf of Wall Street, True Detective,Dallas Buyers Club, Dazed and Confused — just hints at how ubiquitous and versatile he is. But the Oscar-winning actor has built up a reputation for being as fun and candid off-screen as he is captivating on-screen.

Given that McConaughey tends to call it like he sees it (and how much we like looking at him), we figured he'd have some insight to share on the cool products that fuel his nighttime routine. These are his go-tos.

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil

"My sink and my vanity in the bathroom has a whole lot more facial creams and oils than my wife’s does," McConaughey jokes. He gives this facial oil the thumbs-up. It features a blend of plant oils and botanical extracts that are specially designed to help fight visible signs of aging. It's also free of parabens, PEGs, silicone and artificial colors or fragrances. McConaughey says he likes to wait until his skin is dry before applying it. "Don’t go putting no face cream, face oil on while your face is still moist," he says. "Let it completely dry so the pores completely take it in." Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil "penetrates more. It lubricates the skin more," McConaughey says.

Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon

McConaughey, who serves as creative director for Wild Turkey, calls the brand's 101 Bourbon "my favorite bourbon on the planet." It has a "touch of sweetness and a touch of mesquite charcoal smoke, which is the Texas touch in this Kentucky bourbon," he says. McConaughey also gave the brand props for its Trust Your Spirit campaign, which selected Local Legends who showed up for the music scene in extraordinary ways at the start of the pandemic by raising funds for furloughed or unemployed musicians by offering virtual music lessons or organizing benefit concerts. The brand is giving these legends a $10,000 donation to the music-centric charity of their choice as a way to continue uplifting their local music community.

AquaDance High Pressure Shower Head

"I’m a shower man, and I like good water pressure," McConaughey says. The AquaDance High Pressure Shower Head is specially designed to deliver plenty of power with your water output. The shower head, which can be used handheld or overhead, has a high-power click-lever dial, ergonomic grip and rub-clean jets to prevent lime buildup. You can cycle through six different settings to find the feel that's right for you.

Dr. Squatch Men's Soap Variety Pack

Surely you don't expect to find the outdoorsy McConaughey lathering up in the shower with body wash. "I’m a bar soap man — not a liquid soap man," he says. This Dr. Squatch Men's Soap Variety Pack features three popular scents: Pine Tar, Cedar Citrus and Alpine Sage. Each bar is handmade in the U.S. in small batches and is free of ingredients like parabens, harsh chemicals and indiscriminate palm oil.

Oral-B Clic Manual Toothbrush

Once again, while some trendy types prefer a powered toothbrush, McConaughey keeps things old-school. "I’m a manual toothbrush guy, not electric," he says. "I’ve got a toothbrush that feels so good in my mouth, I sometimes go over two minutes." Oral-B's Clic features an ergonomic handle and removable brush head, so you waste less plastic when it's time for a new brush. Criss-cross bristles help really get in between your teeth for an all-over clean.
