THE family of a dad killed in a horror crash have paid a heartbreaking tribute to the sporting enthusiast.

John Carswell, 47, was driving a grey Porsche 911 Carrera on the B954 in Perth when tragedy struck last weekend.

Officers raced to the scene between Alyth and Meigle at around 5pm on Saturday evening.

Emergency services attended but John, who had a passion for classic cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family released a statement through Police Scotland thanking people for the support they have received at this tragic time.

They said: "We would like to express our gratitude for the overwhelming support we have received in the days following the tragedy.

"John was a well-known businessman in Arbroath.

"Away from work, he was an accomplished cyclist, boating was also a keen pursuit, as was scuba diving.

"In later years, he took up kayaking and enjoyed many tours of Scotland’s lochs and rivers with family and friends.

"Motoring was another great passion and he enjoyed restoring a number of classic cars.
