Yellowstone star Luke Grimes opens up on ‘happiness’ of show’s historic new move

Yellowstone: Kevin Costner discusses being on show in 2018

Luke Grimes has opened up about the availability of his hit series Yellowstone amid its historical release on NBC’s new streaming service, Peacock. The Paramount Western’s expanded release is hoped to draw even more viewers when the tense family drama’s fourth season drops next year.

The third season of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone was finally made available to stream when it hit Peacock on November 22.

American platform Peacock is so far the only way to stream the series, which airs on the US network Paramount and My5 in the UK.

Yellowstone star Luke Grimes, who portrays Kayce Dutton in the series, has opened up about the show’s exciting streaming potential in an interview with CinemaBlend.

The main cast member said: “I’m happy to hear we are finally hitting a streaming service.”

“I do feel that there are groups of people who’ve missed out on watching our show because of the many ways people get their media these days, and hopefully those audiences can become part of the family now.”

Paramount’s thrilling Western saga has attracted millions more viewers with each instalment, and could become an even greater hit when the fourth season rolls around in 2021.

Although its availability overseas is still limited – season two only just arrived in the UK in October – Yellowstone’s growing US appeal has made it a surprise hit in the last few years.

Plus, with the worldwide release of season three on DVD and Blu-Ray earlier this month, season four is poised to become an essential event for next year’s summer TV schedule.

Following its reasonably popular debut in 2018, Yellowstone’s ratings increased exponentially when it returned for a third season this year.

With an average of around 3 and a half million US viewers each episode throughout the instalment, over 5 million tuned in to watch this year’s season finale.

After episode ten’s catastrophic cliffhanger, there’s no doubt the compelling journey of John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) will continue to pull in huge numbers next year.

Now newcomers to the series finally have a chance to catch up, Paramount are hoping Yellowstone will be cemented as a cable TV mainstay.

Just after arriving on streaming, Paramount also aired season three in its entirety in a marathon event at the end of November, which also proved a huge success.

Moreover, Yellowstone’s reviews from fans and critics alike are only getting better, with seasons two and three boasting over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Production is currently underway on season four in Montana after a devastating cliffhanger left the fates of John, Kayce and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) unclear.

Ranch owner John Dutton was gunned down, Kayce was attacked by unknown assailants and Beth was caught by an explosive package delivered to her office.

The culprit could be any of the Duttons’ relentless business and political rivalries, and fans are already busy compiling theories for the upcoming season.

Much of the cast have already been spotted on set, including fan favourite Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), so fans are gearing up for a brutal revenge tale when Yellowstone returns.

Thankfully, the show’s filming schedule managed to avoid coronavirus delays, so the first episode is expected to keep up the show’s traditional June premiere.

Yellowstone will return in 2021 on Paramount and Peacock.
