X Factor star Luke Friend looks unrecognisable eight years after show with mullet hairdo

The X Factor star Luke Friend looks almost unrecognisable eight years after the show.

The singer was just 17 when he made his appearance on the ITV singing competition in 2013 and finished in third place.

During The X Factor finale, Luke, now 25, did an impressive duet to Anything Could Happen with Ellie Goulding.

The singer now looks almost unrecognisable since the ITV singing show after undergoing several hair transformations over the years.

In 2020, Luke swapped his signature long brunette locks for a platinum blonde buzzcut.

While more recently, the singer has been rocking a stylish mullet complete with a moustache and nose ring.

Luke finished in third place on The X Factor in 2013 with Sam Bailey winning the tenth series.

However, the contestant is still singing and performing as he has just released his album called Watchtower with his "alternative rock" band Yellowbelly.

While only recently he celebrated what would have been John Lennon's 81st birthday by performing with several artists to raise money for War Child UK.

In his personal life, Luke is loved-up with performing arts graduate Siobhan O Driscoll and they both starred alongside each other in the Green Day inspired theatre show American Idiot in 2019.

It comes after it was reported that The X Factor creator Simon Cowell is stepping away from television to spend more time with his family.

Over the weekend, it was announced that the music mogul, 62, had handed over the reins of his new show Walk The Line to former Take That star Gary Barlow while he takes on a more behind-the-scenes role as executive producer.

And it has now been claimed that Simon, who broke his back last year, is cutting his workload to enjoy family life with his partner Lauren Silverman and their seven year son Eric.

A source told The Sun: "Given all the upheavals of the past year or so, what with lockdown and his health, he's decided now is not the time to be front of camera."

"He's just finished an exceptionally busy period filming which saw him spending an extended period of time away from home, so he also wants to devote more time to his family in the coming weeks," it was continued.

"Clearly, Simon has nothing to prove and doesn't seek celebrity status; even after a quieter couple of years by his standards, he still gets recognised everywhere he goes."

The insider added that being "ramped up" for the launch of Walk The Line is the "last thing he needs," but he will still "help steer the ship" so that it can meet its "exacting demands".

OK! has contacted a representative for Simon for further comment.
