Vikings may have come to an end on History and Amazon Prime Video UK last year but it still hasn’t stopped interest in the series from soaring ever since. And over the course of six action-packed, bone-crushing and back-stabbing seasons, the likes of Floki (played by Gustaf Skarsgård), Halfdan the Black (Jasper Pääkkönen) and Harald (Peter Franzén) have emerged as three of the most memorable figures from the bloody historical epic. Now, the three men behind the characters have sparked somewhat of a frenzy among the fandom with a mini-reunion – as well as some sweet messages from their co-stars.

Over the weekend, Pääkkönen, Franzén and Skarsgård all got together to give fans the ultimate sense of nostalgia.

As well as sharing a throwback snap of the three on set of the History drama, Franzén included a modern-day snap of the trio in the same formation.

Captioning the photos to his 408k Instagram followers, Franzén typed: “One of the most important things in life -#friends @jasperpaakkonen @gustafskarsgard.”

Each of the Vikings stars shot a smile to camera as they relished the reunion, and while hundreds of fans took to the comments section with their messages of excitement, there were one or two familiar faces from the drama series who also replied.

Ivar the Boneless actor Alex Hogh Anderson showed his appreciation for his former colleagues, simply replying: “Lads [love heart emoji].”

And Moe Dunford, who portrayed Aethelwulf up until his death, similarly echoed: “The lads [love heart emoji].”

Lagertha star Katheryn Winnick also got in on the act, penning a sweet message of her own.

“Ahhh miss you guys!!! [love heart emoji],” Winnick wrote to her former on-set pals.

While Vikings may be over, it appears the bond between the stars is still as strong as ever.

And each of the stars hasn’t exactly been slowing down in their careers ever since leaving their respective historical figures.

Winnick recently return to ABC in the second season hit crime drama Big Sky alongside the likes of Brian Geraghty and Kylie Bunbury.

Skarsgård, on the other hand, enjoyed a stint in Netflix fantasy drama Cursed.

While Franzén also enjoyed a stint on Netflix recently in the animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots.

And Pääkkönen joined Game of Thrones legend Jerome Flynn and The Walking Dead favourite Michael Rooker in the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.

Vikings seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video UK now.
