'Total Divas': Nikki Bella Admits Producers Scripted Most of the Drama

Total Divas was one of the E! Network’s most popular reality TV shows. The series followed the work and home lives of several WWE female wrestlers. As expected with any reality program, there was plenty of drama. Yet, fans wonder how much of it was real and how much was fake. Nikki Bella reveals ‘Total Divas’ producers created drama

Two of Total Divas‘ original cast members included Nikki and Brie Bella. The Bellas remained part of throughout its nine-season run, then starred in the spinoff Total Bellas. As seen on both shows, Nikki and Brie got into arguments either with each other or a fellow co-star.

Although the turmoil made for great television, most of it wasn’t real. According to ComicBook.com, Nikki admitted that the show’s producers would script drama with the cast members, which didn’t go well with her. “I don’t wanna say argument, but where we kind of like bump heads with production because they would push certain things or cause certain things,” she explained.

Former ‘Total Divas’ cast member didn’t like being on the show

There were many cast changes throughout Total Divas‘ run. Season 2 featured the addition of Summer Rae, who became the series’ new villain. Rae got into catfights with the other girls, and one of her pivotal moments came when she showed up at Natalya’s house and slapped her. Following the third season, Rae decided to leave the series.

According to ewrestling.com, she didn’t like how the show portrayed her. “I was horrible and really mean on Total Divas. People that know me in real life know who I am, and know I would never do anything like that. But it’s your first season, and you gotta stir the pot,” she explained.

No more ‘Total Divas’ and ‘Total Bellas’ drama

Scripted or authentic, drama is what made Total Divas and Total Bellas a hit. Unfortunately for fans, they’ll no longer be seeing the behind-the-scenes drama with the ladies. The E! Network reportedly cancelled both shows.

However, fans can still watch scripted drama with WWE’s female stars. Every week on RAW and Smackdown, viewers will watch stars such as Naomi, Eva Marie, Alexa Bliss, and Carmella duke it out inside the squared circle.
