This Morning viewers swear theres no chance chefs £1 meals only cost £1

This Morning viewers were left confused today after a chef claimed a meal he cooked would cost just £1 per person – but many didn’t agree.

Miguel Barclay, a British chef, joined Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on the show to cook a delicious looking meal of a chilli con carne with a twist, all for under £1 a portion.

Miguel Barclay is a chef who owns a pizza restaurant in London’s Camden Town and has a number of cookbooks championing one pound meals and recipes.

He made the meal of chilli con carne but switched the beef for chicken legs instead. As he whipped up the meal on the ITV daytime show, he told viewers: "What we're doing here is a chilli con carne, but instead of using minced beef we're going to use a chicken leg.

"A lot of people are creeped out by the bone, but don’t worry about that, we’re going to deal with this."

The chef then took viewers through the process of cooking the dish as Holly asked: "What you're doing here, how many will this feed?"

Miguel replied: "This is just going to feed one. It's one leg per person."

Holly, 41, watched on and asked the chef: “And once you’ve bought spices like that, you’ll use them in lots of different dishes won’t you?” Miguel replied: “Oh yeah, these are store cupboard essentials.”

As Miguel worked his magic in the kitchen, Holly said: "£1 a head, there's no reason not to make this… unless you're a vegetarian!"

But, many viewers took to Twitter to raise speculation about the price tag. One said: “There is no f***ing way you can feed a family of four for £4. Not a chance #ThisMorning .”

“Cooking £1 a head… Does spices, onions, garlic, oil come free now? #thismorning,” said another.

Another wrote: “#thismorning So if he could tell us where to get chicken legs for about 30p that would be good.”

“Is he factoring in the cost of cooking it in his £1 budget #thismorning,” said another viewer.

One fan wrote: “Just a quick look on Asda. Chicken legs for 500g (No idea how many legs that is, probably 2) £3.59 so add onions, garlic, and everything else he’s just banged in that pan, is not £1 per head. #ThisMorning .”
