The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Marvel tease Disney+ series

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is one of a series of the show’s coming to Disney+ in the coming months. The miniseries is based on the Marvel Comic characters Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, who were last seen in the superior epic Avengers: Endgame earlier this year.

When is The Falcon and Winter Soldier released on Disney+?

Marvel Studios announced The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would be one of the new limited series for Dinsey+ in September 2018.

The show was confirmed in April 2019 and finally, a release has been confirmed.

The Falcon and The Winter Solider will premiere on Friday, March 19 on Disney+.

There will be six episodes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which will be exclusively available to watch on Disney+.

The streaming service costs £5.99 in the UK and $7.99 per month in the US.

Alternatively, you can sign up to a yearly subscription of Disney Plus.

Who stars in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Dinsey+?

Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson/Falcon in the new miniseries.

At the end of Avenger’s Endgame, Wilson was handed the mantle of Captian America but continues to be known as Falcon.

Outside of the Marvel Universe, Mackie is a stage and television actor.

He will star in the second season of Netflix’s Altered Carbon, set to premiere next year.

Sebastian Stan will portray Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, a role he also plays in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stan is also known for playing Carter Baizen in Gossip Girl and TJ Hammond in Political Animals.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Stan said: “I think it’s time for Bucky to go out there and have an identity outside of the circumstances that we’ve met him through.

“So, I don’t know, he might do all kinds of things. He might even go on a date. I don’t know. Scary world out there, you know? Apps, things like that. I don’t know what he’s gonna do.

“I can’t see him on an iPhone…I think it’s gonna be a lot of dealing with Anthony’s character and Anthony himself which is always another character.“

Other cast members from the Marvel Universe will be reprising their roles on the small screen.

Captain America’s Daniel Brühl and Emily VanCamp will reprise their roles as Helmut Zemo and Sharon Carter respectively.

Wyatt Carter joins the cast as US Agent, John Walker who has not yet appeared in the cinematic universe.

John Walker first appeared in Marvel Comics Captain America issue 323 in November 1986.

What is The Falcon and The Winter Solider on Disney+ about?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is based on the Marvel Comic characters Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, created by the late Stan Lee.

The plot of The Falcon and the Winter Solider will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all events in the series will be set after the film, Avengers: Endgame, which was released in April 2019.

The characters and story will be adapted for the small screen by Malcolm Spellman.

In the miniseries, Sam and Bucky will be dealing with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, when Sam was handled the mantle of Captain America.

Yes, there is a trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Solider.

The trailer premiered during the highly coveted spot of the Superbowl 2021 (Sunday, February 7). 

The trailer sees both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Sam Wilson/Falcon and  Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier respectively.

In the trailer, the duo are seen working through their dysfunctional relationship and participating in some high-wattage action.
