Tess Daly has updated loyal Strictly Come Dancing fans about finalist AJ Odudu’s horror injury as she steps back into the dance studio days before the series final.

The 33-year-old announced earlier this week that she had torn the tendon in the arch of her foot which has left her “unable to walk” without the aid of crutches.

She later appeared on It Takes Two to share her “frustration” and “upset” at her injury in the final week of the BBC One dance competition.

But with less than 48 hours until the final airs across the nation, the blonde bombshell has reassured viewers that the TV presenter has finally got back into the dance studio after three days of rest.

During Thursday’s instalment of the popular ITV morning show, the co-host was interviewed by her loving husband Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes while she gave the all-important health update.

As the trio talked about the success of the series so far, Vernon couldn't help but ask after the injured finalist.

He asked: “How’s AJ ‘cause she just injured her ankle, hasn’t she?”

To which Tess replied: “She has. We are hoping and praying that she is going to be fully recovered in order to dance on Saturday night.

“We are all behind her and I know she had treatment last night hoping that she will go back into training this afternoon.”

For the final episode of the series, contestants have been tasked with learning three intricate dance routines in a week.

The first routine will be the judges choice where the pick a previous routine that the celebrity couples could improve on.

The second routine will be a couples choice where the dancing duo select one of their strongest performances over the series to perform again.

And the final routine will be a show dance which is designed to show off all the skills the celebs have learnt over the past two months.

But with AJ being out of action for the majority of the week, fans are anxious that the Northern lass won't be able to make it to the final.

And it appears as though they aren't the only ones who are concerned about her performance as the starlet confessed her concerns in an exclusive chat with the Daily Star and other publications.

She said: “I've hurt the ligament in my arch and I can’t put any weight on my foot at all.

“So, we’ve missed a lot of training because I can’t stand up. I'm on crutches and I'm doing everything I can to try and be there on Saturday night.

“It’s just really frustrating actually because the two dances that we are repeating from the series, we’ve not performed them in weeks and weeks.”
