Strictly fans dub Anton Du Beke 'the new Len Goodman' as he fills in for Motsi Mabuse

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans have dubbed Anton Du Beke "the new Len Goodman" after he filled in for an isolating Motsi Mabuse.

The show stalwart, who is the only remaining original professional dancer, went down a storm with his judging debut.

Looking smart in a black suit and bow tie, Anton was praised for his constructive criticism and enthusiasm.

But most of all, he reminded them of former head judge Len, who left the show in 2016.

One wrote on Twitter: "Anton on Strictly is like a junior Len #StrictlyComeDancing."

A second posted: "Anton sounds so much like Len, every time they cut away I’m always like 'wait' #Strictly."

A third shared: "Anton really is channelling Len. And against my better judgement, it’s working #Strictly."

Prior to taking the hot seat, Anton revealed he was "honoured and overwhelmed" to fill in for Mosti as she isolates after an urgent trip to Germany.

The star's dance school in the country was targeted by thieves prompting her to return.

Show veteran Anton beamed with delight on It Takes Two with host Gethin Jones.

He said: "To be asked to fill in for Motsi is an absolute honour.

"I'm so thrilled, honoured overwhelmed. I love the show so much and to be a part of it since the beginning, the only one left, it just fills my heart with joy.

"To be asked to fill in is the biggest compliment."

The Sun revealed the veteran dance professional is stepping into Motsi's shoes as she isolates at home for two weeks.

Anton appeared to be the obvious choice after he was booted out in the first week with former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.

Before his new role was announced, he was asked if would consider being a judge on podcast Driven Celebrities.

"In a heartbeat," he said.

"I wouldn't hang up the shoes at all, because I love being out in front and performing.

"I do have a bit of time on my hands now, so I don't know of a better way to fill it quite frankly.

"If that opportunity came up, wouldn't it be nice?

"I'm forever pert and ready. I'm starched to an inch of my life, ready for the nod."

Motsi announced her forced break from the show on Twitter last night.

She wrote: "Hi Guys – Earlier this week I needed to travel to Germany for an urgent reason. I will of course be following the UK Government guidelines and self-isolating for 14 days. I'll be watching from home and by the power of technology, should be in your living rooms.

"Watch out though, I'll be doing my own hair and make-up!"

It comes as Nicola Adams and Katya Jones have been forced off the show after the pro dancer tested positive for coronavirus.

Neither of them will be allowed to return to the BBC dance hit after the shocking news – leaving a gaping hole in the line-up.

Strictly’s Rylan Clark-Neal has also been forced to miss two weeks of It Takes Two and his Radio 2 show after contact with coronavirus.
