Aljaz Skorjanec and Sara Davies sat down with Rylan Clark-Neal on Friday’s It Takes Two to discuss their upcoming routine for Halloween Week on Strictly Come Dancing. However, before delving into the details of their spooky routine, the trio had somewhat of a debrief about their Rumba from Week Five which landed them near the foot of the leaderboard. Taking aim at the BBC series’ longest-serving judge Craig Revel-Horwood, Sara didn’t mince her words.

After their Rumba this past Saturday, Sara and Aljaz were left rather underwhelmed by the reception from the judges.

While the likes of Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke had some words of praise and advice going forward, Craig was more critical.

And this was reflected in the scores, as Craig gave them a lowly score of four while his colleagues all awarded sevens.

Reacting to Craig’s feedback, Sara said to Rylan on It Takes Two: “You know what, they said to me you’ve got to get the hips moving.

“Well Craig said to me in Week One, ‘You didn’t move your hips much’.”

Leaning forward, Sara sternly put: “I felt like saying to him, ‘Mate, you try doing it with a corset and two pairs of support trousers on, and you won’t move your hips much!’”

Rylan and Aljaz let out a laugh before the It Takes Two host replied: “Funny thing is, I think he might have at some point.”

Looking forward to – hopefully – better scores, Sara added: “But I’ve ditched the corset this week and I move the hips and it is like, ‘Yes!’”

Discussing the scores specifically rather than the feedback, Aljaz and Sara admitted they try to pay little attention to Craig’s verdict.

“Very happy with my sevens,” Sara bluntly said. “We don’t talk about the four.”

Aljaz then began to tease Craig as he added: “The good thing is it’s right at the start of the scoring system,

“So you just brush over it,” the dancer added as Sara agreed: “Yeah we just brush over it and then we’re really pleased about the sevens.”

In order to try and work their way back up the leaderboard, Sara and Aljaz have an all-new routine planned for Saturday.

Together, they’ll be performing a couple’s choice to Whitney Houston smash hit, Queen of the Night.

The pair have their work cut out to try and wow the judges but according to the bookmakers, they should make it through another week.

That’s because returning Strictly star Judi Love is the favourite to lose the dreaded dance-off this week.

After having to miss a week due to Covid, Judi and Graziano di Prima are odds-on at 8/13 to say their goodbyes on Sunday, according to William Hill.

Dan Walker is also in the running for the axe with odds of 9/2 but will the BBC Breakfast find himself in the dance-off?

Sara’s odds of elimination stand at 7/1 but fans have already seen so far this series that the dance-off can include some surprises.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7:10pm on BBC One.
