The 18th season of NCIS has been taking a short break after delivering yet another explosive cliffhanger at the end of the latest episode. With the next instalment pushed to next week in an unexpected CBS shake-up, Wilmer Valderrama has teased an emotional family reunion with guest star Steven Bauer when the series returns.
Fans will finally get some more insight into Nick Torres’ (played by Wilmer Valderrama) mysterious family life in the next episode of NCIS.
While the series won’t be returning until next Tuesday, fans are itching to see how the explosive series will play out after Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon) paid Torres a surprise visit.
When season 18 continues with episode 12, ‘Sangre’, viewers will finally be introduced to Torres’ hitherto absent father, Miguel (Steven Bauer).
Very little is known about the elusive Miguel, as this is the first time he’ll be making himself known since Torres debuted in season 14.
Thankfully, Wilmer Valderrama recently chatted with TVLine to preview the upcoming episode, and shed light on their father-son relationship.
In the new interview, Walderrama confirmed fans will finally begin to learn more about the hot-headed agent’s previously unexplored backstory.
He explained: “In this episode, we’re going to unravel way more than Torres is going to be comfortable with!
“You are really going to understand why Torres has that chip on his shoulder, and where he got this idea that he can just not be emotionally attached to anyone.”
The relatively new addition to the team has shown reluctance to bond with any of his fellow agents, despite his feelings for his regular partner in the field, Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham).
Walderrama indicated his impenetrable outer shell was probably inherited from his father, as the episode is set to delve further into his childhood than ever before.
The NCIS star continued: “You’re going to learn more about where he came from, what type of life he led when he was a kid, how he became the man he is today.
“What’s exciting about this episode is it pulls back layers and layers of subtext that for years now the fans have been asking about.”

Thankfully, NCIS producers have landed a stellar guest actor to pull off the next episode’s weighty new storyline.
Cuban-born actor Steven Bauer will be taking on the role of Miguel Torres, best known as drug lord Manny Ribera in the 1983 classic Scarface.
He is also celebrated for his supporting roles in hit television series such as Ray Donovan, Breaking Bad and its sequel series, Better Call Saul.
As well as a Torres family reunion, fans may be surprised to learn that Wilmer Valderrama and Steven Bauer will also be reuniting for episode 12.
He revealed: “Immediately I remembered I had done a pilot for CBS called Four Stars, which was about two four-star general families, led by Bruce Greenwood and Steven Bauer, and Steven Bauer played my father in that pilot.
“It was this beautiful, amazing pilot, a real shame it didn’t go, but out of that pilot came CBS’ idea to offer me NCIS.”
Although the series sadly wasn’t picked up, Bauer already has experience portraying a father figure for Wilmer Valderrama.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but viewers will be thrilled to finally learn more about the reclusive agent when NCIS returns next week.
NCIS season 18 continues Tuesday, April 27 on CBS.
