'Modern Family': Catherine O'Hara Appeared In This Episode of ABC's Comedy Series

On Schitt’s Creek, Catherine O’Hara portrays a diva-turned small-town resident. On Modern Family, however, this actor portrayed a new friend to the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan.

Here’s what we know about this character from ABC’s award-winning comedy series.

Catherine O’Hara starred in ‘Schitt’s Creek’

Moira Rose went from wealthy soap opera star to staying in a rundown motel in the small town of Schitt’s Creek. She was one of the main characters of this comedy series, with O’Hara portraying her for several seasons.

Aside from her role in Schitt’s Creek, this actor starred in Beetlejuice as the eccentric Delia Deetz. She also starred in ABC’s comedy series, Modern Family, as a therapist/self-help book author.

Outside of her work with Schitt’s Creek, this actor had a cameo in ABC’s award-winning comedy series, Modern Family. That was during the season 7 episode titled “Clean Out Your Junk Drawer.”

In this comedy series, O’Hara portrayed the renowned therapist and self-help author, Dr. Debra Radcliffe. Unfortunately for her, the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family had no idea who she is. Gloria won the family’s group therapy session at an auction after being confused by the title.

As a result, most family members were pretty apprehensive about cleaning out their emotional junk drawers for a stranger. Mitch and Cam didn’t want anyone to judge them. Jay just wanted to watch a football game.

She managed to get the family to do several healing exercises. That includes playing “tiger, rockstar, bunny” and asking one person to sit in their partner’s lap. Eventually, all of their “junk” was out, and the family needed the therapist to fix it.

When Dr. Debra Radcliffe found out how much Gloria spent for the afternoon, though, she walked out. It was up to these parents to discuss their problems and find a solution. Although Jay rarely talked about his feelings, he finally felt comfortable enough to share a memory with his family.

Other ‘Schitt’s Creek’ cast members guest-starred on ‘Modern Family’

Dr. Debra Radcliffe made an impression on Jay Pritchett, who read her book to Gloria following their therapy session. However, O’Hara did not reprise her role in this comedy series. This actor wouldn’t be the only Schitt’s Creek cast member who appeared on Modern Family.

For one episode, Dan Levy acted as one of Mitch and Cam’s bitter former renters for the upstairs apartment. The character, named Jonah, appeared during the season 10 episode titled “A Sketchy Area.”

The Emmy Award-winning comedy series Modern Family, including the “Clean Out Your Junk Drawer” episode, is available for streaming on Hulu. Schitt’s Creek is available for streaming on Netflix.
