Married at First UK 2021 is returning with a one-off reunion special, the show has confirmed.
The smash hit series that saw strangers get married on TV last year is coming back with a special episode titled Married At First Sight: One Year On. The show will look at how the couples from the show have been getting on in the months since being off camera.
MAFS UK became a ratings hit in 2021 as viewers tuned in each episode to see if the 16 singles introduced would open their heart up to someone they barely know and walk down the aisle.
The ambitious experiment lead to some successes and some failures, as the couples formed showed their determination to try and see how far they could go in the series.
A one hour reunion special will witness how the experiment impacted their lives — for better, or for worse.
“The hugely loyal viewers of last series' Married at First Sight UK invested so much into the lives of these 16 single people, that it’s only right that they get to see how things have evolved over the past 12-months," executive producer Murray Boland told The Sun.
"It's certainly going to be a reunion not to miss, One Year On.”
This update comes after OK! first revealed last month that the reunion special would be making its way onto TV screens.
An inside source told us that the episode will follow successful married couple Adam Aveling, 27, and Tayah Victoria, 25, in their pregnancy journey, along with the other not so successful couples from last year.
"MAFS UK are filming 'a year on' show with all the people from the last series," the insider said.
"They're going to follow Adam and Tayah's pregnancy and all of the cast. At the end they're meeting up for a big reunion which is going to be fireworks and explosive!"
Fellow MAFS UK stars Nikita Jasmine, Morag Crichton, Bob Voysey, Amy Christophers and Megan Wolfe, will also feature in the reunion, along with couple Matt Jameson, 39, and Daniel McKee, 28.
The update on the reunion special, comes as its been revealed that the new series of MAFS UK is set to air in late summer, with love experts Mel Schilling, Paul Brunson and Charlene Douglass returning to help contestants find their spousal matches.
The Sun reported that there is set to be a shocking twist which will see two ‘intruder’ couples disrupting the series and there will be two same-sex couples joining the show this year, following the popularity of grooms Matt and Daniel’s romance among viewers.
