Love Island fans felt waves of second hand embarrassment after spotting Jake Cornish leaving Hugo Hammond hanging as he tried to get a fist bump.

The Love Island house mates were taking part in an American football themed challenge where couples had to make out until a bell rang.

Hugo and partner Amy Day were among the few couples remaining in the challenge as a Twitter fan noticed Hugo’s blunder.

They shared a quick two second clip of Hugo holding his fist out to Jake while he continued to kiss Amy, with Jake looking and ignoring the fist bump request altogether.

One viewer wrote: “Hugo getting his first bump aired he’s a walking L (loser)”.

Viewers piled into the comments to share their thoughts, with one asking: “This is a grown man. And he’s acting like he’s in primary school slsksk was this his first kiss on live tv?”

Other’s couldn’t get over their embarrassment with one admitting they were “internally screaming” at the clip while another said: “This is SO embarrassing I don’t think I can cope with knowing this happened.”

Fans commended Jake for ignoring the cringe moment, with one writing: “Even Jake knows how neeky that was, looked at it and aired him.”

Another said: “lmao the fact that Jake acknowledged it and still ignored !!”

Hugo has been continually falling out of public favour with fans deeming him to be boring.

The PE teacher’s lack of antics in the villa has also lead to ITV having to deny allegations that they’re refusing to give Hugo airtime.

A source at the Mail Online had said that Hugo had “disappointed producers” on the show after he failed to form genuine connections with both the girls and boys in the villa.

The source said: "Hugo has disappointed producers, they were relying on him to be a big character in the villa, but he's ended up fading into the background.

“The aim of the show is to form genuine connections and he's struggled to do that with female Islanders, and even some of the males in the group.

"It took Hugo five attempts to film his first kiss with Amy and his 'job done' comment gave the game away."

While a Love Island representative denied the claims, saying: “This is not true”

Hugo and Amy have been a couple since getting back from Casa Amor, with Amy remaining with Hugo in this weeks recoupling despite fans believing there’s no connection between them.
