THE shock news that Little Mix are going their separate ways has barely sunk in but Jade Thirlwall is already being lined up for her first solo work away from the band.
I can reveal that the BBC want her for a series of high-profile hosting gigs after impressing bosses on their shows The Search and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The role would be her first after I told how the hugely successful group are each set to pursue solo careers.
An insider said: “The Beeb see her as a young Davina McCall and are trying to come up with some concepts for her now.
"She shone on The Search and really stood out when she was a guest on RuPaul.
“Jade has everything to make a great presenter — she can read an autocue while also being a bit spontaneous and funny. Not to forget she’s very easy on the eye.”
Jade appeared as a guest judge on Drag Race last year and the girls’ debut show, The Search, to find a new band.
It finished earlier this month when the girls crowned Since September as the winners.
The news comes after I revealed Jade and her bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were going their separate ways.
Leigh-Anne has already launched her own bikini range and Perrie has a shoe range with Italian brand Superga.
Jesy is taking “time off” due to personal reasons.
A spokesman said: “Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons. We will not be issuing any further comment currently.”
Whatever the band does in the future I know they’ll all be huge successes.
Zara hits a purple patch
ZARA Larsson is doing her best to get a collaboration with Nicki Minaj – by wearing an outfit the rapper would definitely be seen in.
The Swede sported the purple dress for a shoot with Euphoria magazine as she announced her third album will be called Poster Girl.
Asked who would be appearing on the record, she said: “Not all of them are set. I’d love to do something with Kehlani.
"She’s like my number one now. Even Nicki Minaj, but I’d want us to be in the studio and come up with a song together.
“Love Me Land was the last song that I wrote for this album and that was written one day before lockdown in LA, back in March.
"I went back home and have been putting it together since.”
Charlie’s love letter
BUSTED singer Charlie Simpson has paid tribute to wife Anna – by releasing a song about her.
He said of track I See You, which he has just released an acoustic version of: “I wrote it for my wife. She was going through a difficult situation and I had to be away quite a lot for work.
“We all put on a front when people ask how we are. This song is me saying that, even though I’m not there, I see you. It’s a love letter to her.”
George: Russell let rip
RUSSELL Crowe must be the only guy in the world that doesn’t like George Clooney.
The Ocean’s Eleven star has told how shocked he was when Russell labelled him a “sell-out” 15 years ago for filming adverts.
In a chat with GQ mag, George, who now appears in Nespresso coffee ads, said: “Out of the blue, he’s like, ‘I’m not some sell-out like Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford and George Clooney’.
“I’m like, ‘Where the f*** did that come from?’.”
George previously hit back at the New Zealander who plays with rock band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts.
George said: “I put out a statement saying, ‘He’s probably right. And I’m glad he told us, ’cause Bob and Harrison and I were also thinking about starting a band, which would also fall under the heading of bad use of celebrity.
“And that’s when he really went off on me. ‘Who the f*** does this guy think he is? He’s a Frank Sinatra wannabe’. He really went after me.”
George added: “He did send me a book of poems to apologise.”
Good to see George isn’t too old to get involved in petty squabbles.
Halsey’s banoffee pie
IF there’s one thing Yungblud really misses about ex Halsey, it’s her banoffee pie.
The Weird! singer told podcast Table Manners: “She makes an insane banoffee pie. She’s probably one of the best cooks.”
On why they split last year, he added: “We were kind of better mates. We loved each other but in a different way.”
Payne in neck
LIAM Payne is clearly quite the prankster – as his mate Charlie Puth revealed how the One Direction singer gave him the shock of his life.
Liam broke into US singer Charlie’s Los Angeles home in a hilarious prank before Charlie discovered him climbing on the roof.
Charlie said: “Fun fact, Liam jumped on my roof one time at my old house in Hollywood Hills.
“And I was like, ‘Where are you?’ ‘I’m on your roof mate’.”
And it’s not the first time the See You Again singer has been the victim of Liam’s japes. Liam once swiped his top.
Charlie said: “He stole my hoodie because he was going to the club one night and said, ‘Do you want to go?’.
“I’m like, ‘Not really’, and he was like, ‘Do you mind if I borrow a hoodie?’.
“To be a bit incognito, I guess. It’s a really nice hoodie, it’s cashmere and I just never got it back.
“I think he probably lost it.”
If this is what Liam’s like with his friends, I wonder how he treats his enemies.
Happy with my Lott
PIXIE Lott is one happy woman – and there are lots of things keeping her that way.
The Voice Kids coach posted this snap of her looking stunning in a blue dress, sporting new brunette hair, on her Instagram account.
And she gave her nine top tips on how to stay content in lockdown.
They include going for long walks, meditating and belting out loud music, as well as singing in the shower.
A pint of Amstel normally works for me.
The royal seal of approval
SINGER Purdy has the royal seal of approval, performing in the latest series of The Crown.
She is featured singing when Charles and Diana are filmed dancing together for the first time during their Australia tour. Her song is also played over the end credits.
Purdy said: “I just kept thinking how much my dad would have loved it as he organised security at all the royal palaces.”
It comes ahead of her releasing new music next year.
It's a Macca Attacka
SIR Paul McCartney rants about a “two-faced gold-digger” in an explosive new song, prompting speculation the track is about ex-wife Heather Mills.
The Beatles star’s track, Lavatory Lil, sees him accuse a mystery woman of trying to weasel a posh car out of him.
He sings: “You think she’s being friendly, but she’s looking for a Bentley.
“She says it’s hunky-dory, when she’s telling you a story.”
Paul and Heather married in 2002 but split in 2006.
She sought £125million in the divorce but agreed to £24.3million in 2008.
Talking about the song to Uncut magazine, Macca said: “You get a few of ’em in life, these people who screw you over.”
But a friend last night downplayed the fallout, saying: “The song is about the early days of The Beatles.”
