Is DDC Andrea Wise H on Line of Duty?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Line of Duty season 5.

H’s true identity is being kept well under wraps as Line of Duty show bosses try to prevent any leaks or spoilers.

Line of Duty fans will have to tune into the season five finale to learn the true identity of H.

However, there are a number of clues to suggest DDC Andrea Wise could be the villain in the BBC One series.

DDC Andrea Wise is currently a 28/1 outside to be unveiled as H on Line of Duty, according to SkyBet.*

While this places her as a rank outsider, the character’s name is still being bandied among bookies as a potential candidate.

Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) is currently the favourite to be H at 2/1.

Elsewhere, Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) has odds of 5/1 to be H, whereas Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) is 33/1.

it isn’t just the bookmakers who are predicting DDC Andrea Wise to be H, however.

Criminologists from Birmingham City University have also provided an insight into who could be H.

Elizabeth Yardley, Director of the Centre for Applied Criminology at Birmingham City University, said: “An interesting fact about the letter H is that when you explore the earliest recorded alphabets, letters were often used to symbolise or depict something they represent.

“Apparently, according to scholars of Proto-Semitic language, the letter H was also the word for fence, given that it resembles part of a fence.

“Fence is also the word for someone who buys goods they know to be stolen in order to sell them for profit. Given DCS Hargreaves’ (Tony Pitts) involvement in the raid at Eastfield Police Storage Facility, maybe he was ‘H’ after all.

“Instead of looking for H’s, perhaps we should explore some of the characters with surnames ending in those letters commonly paired with H – W, C, G, and S.

“W – Deputy Chief Constable Andrea Wise? C – Detective Chief Superintendent Patricia Carmichael? (Anna Maxwell Martin) G – DCI Tony Gates? (Lennie James) But he’s dead – or is he? S – Tatleen Sohota (Taj Atwal) or Police and Crime Commissioner Rohan Sindhwani (Ace Bhatti)?”

Whether H’s true identity is even revealed in the season five finale, the episode is bound to be unmissable.

The runtime for Line of Duty season five, episode six is longer than any other previous episode.

BBC One will air the feature-length episode of Line of Duty from 9pm.

It could also set up a tantalising cliffhanger ahead of Line of Duty season six.

However, a release date for season six is still shrouded in secrecy.

Line of Duty season five concludes on Sunday, May 5 on BBC One.
