Kate Middleton and William share moment during song by their wedding singer Ellie Goulding

Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William shared a romantic moment during Ellie Goulding’s performance at the Christmas carol concert the Duchess of Cambridge helped to organise.

Kate, 39, and William, also 39, sat side by side in the audience at London’s Westminster Abbey for the Together at Christmas charity concert, which will air on ITV on Christmas Eve in aid of those who have helped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, as the teaser clip for the festive special show, it was during Ellie Goulding’s rendition of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas that the pair locked eyes and gazed lovingly at one another.

And it’s no wonder the moment struck a chord with the Royal couple, as pop star Ellie performed on their wedding day when they tied the knot a decade ago.

Ellie, 34, sang a version of Elton John’s hit Your Song as Kate and William took to the dance floor for their first dance as a married couple in 2011.

Showing the memory still holds a very special place in her heart, Kate invited Ellie to be one of a line-up of special guests to perform at the carol service, which was filmed earlier in December.

The line-up also includes X Factor star Leona Lewis and singer Tom Walker, while Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway was also present to do a speech to the congregation.

In a recently released trailer for the special, Kate, who was seen wearing a festive red Miu Miu cardigan worth £1,350, spoke of her excitement about the event.

The mum-of-three beamed as she said: “I’m so excited to be hosting Together at Christmas here at Westminster Abbey.”

The video then cuts to montages filmed in the evening, teasing the special guests and musical performances that viewers can watch.

Ellie has previously opened up about being part of Kate and William’s big day, admitting she battled with nerves ahead of the performance.

She revealed: “In the weeks before [the big day], everyone I know was talking about the wedding, and I was sat like, trying not to say anything.”

The singer continued: “I kept it to myself for so long. But no one would have believed me anyway.”

The star also gave her take on the Royal couple, describing them as “an awesome couple”.

Ellie explained: “I talked to William and Kate quite a bit. They're just a really awesome couple, lovely people, so I understand why people are fascinated by them.”

“It was a really beautiful night, but then I haven't been to many weddings!"
