Emmerdale fans were left delighted on Wednesday night as Vanessa Woodfield, played by Michelle Hardwick, returned to the ITV soap.
During the latest instalment, Vanessa pulled up to the village just as her ex Charity Dingle was telling new boyfriend Mackenzie Boyd that she loved him.
To which Vanessa joked: "Sorry, don't let me spoil your moment!"
Later in the episode, it was revealed that Vanessa has moved on with a new partner while Charity insisted to Mackenzie that her ex is "in the past".
Soap watchers were quick to take to Twitter to celebrate Vanessa's return as they begged that she reunite with Charity.
One person said: "Hope charity and Vanessa get back together #Emmerdale."
A different account put: "Please bring back Vanity – Charity and Vanessa apart doesn’t feel right #Emmerdale."
Another follower commented: "It’s great having Vanessa back #Emmerdale."
A different soap watcher wrote: "So nice to see Vanessa back #emmerdale @ChelleHardwick."
While another viewer added: "Yay vanessa is back its been to long #emmerdale."
It comes after Emmerdale star Michelle admitted that she was "very nervous" ahead of her return to the ITV soap as Vanessa.
Michelle, 45, had 19 months away on maternity leave after welcoming her baby son, Teddy, with wife Kate Brooks.
Vanessa made her explosive return to Emmerdale after she left the village in 2020 to go and stay with her mother as part of a heartbreaking bowel cancer storyline.
Talking about her return, soap star Michelle, who plays Vanessa, told publications: "Oh my goodness. After 19 months, it just feels like it’s been forever. Honestly, every time I see people, they’re like, ‘When are you back on Emmerdale?’.
"When I first walked on set it was literally like I'd had two weeks off apart from the Covid restrictions, that’s all very different."

However, Michelle admitted that she was "very nervous" about her return as she worried how she was going to balance motherhood with learning lines.
She said: "I was very nervous though I must admit. You think to yourself, ‘Oh, can I still do it? Can you still learn your lines when you’ve got a little one year old at home?’ but so far so good."
