Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson has teased an explosive few weeks in the Yorkshire dales, with heartache and revelations galore on the horizon.
The executive producer confirmed Belle Dingle's (Eden Taylor Draper) affair with Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) is going down a dark path, as some hidden truths come to light.
Meanwhile, Kim Tate (Claire King) is due to return to Home Farm, back to her old tricks as she sets her sights on her next victim.
Opening up about Belle and Jamie's romance, Jane said: "Part one of it, Belle and Jamie, will be coming to a head very soon and there will be a twist in there."
The illicit lovers fell for one another while working together at the vet's, with Jamie eventually leaving his wife Andrea Tate (Anna Nightengale) to be with Belle.
However, after Jamie nearly killed Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) in a hit and run accident, their relationship turned stale, as Belle scrambled to cover up his crime.
Hinting there is more heartache ahead for young Belle, Jane said: "Then it gets worse, actually. It will get worse for Belle for quite some time.
"There is a lot more to come from that story – not all is as it seems."
Jamie's meddling mother, Kim Tate, has planned her return to the village in upcoming scenes, arriving in the dales in October.
Kim has already made it clear she doesn't approve of Belle's relationship with Jamie, fearing it means her granddaughter Millie could become estranged from the family.
However, Kim has another scheme up her sleeve, Jane revealed, as she targets a mysterious new love interest in the village.
Kim's last relationship, with Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), ended in a botched assassination plot, and he was eventually murdered by Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather).
Jane explained Kim will set upon her new prey with renewed vigour, saying: "Kim Tate will be back with us soon.
"Kim's always got her eye on her next man, and there is one lined up.
"I think that's going to surprise people when you see where Kim goes to next."
She added: "We've not got long to wait until she's back with us, very soon."
While Kim chases a new man, can Belle cope with the skeletons she is about to unearth?
Emmerdale airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
