Dame Joan Collins couldn’t resist taking a cheeky swipe at Piers Morgan’s Good Morning Britain exit as he tried to quiz her about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The actress was the latest star to sit down with Piers for his biographical talk series, following her colourful life and career in the spotlight.

However, while she openly spoke about her marriage to Warren Beatty, opened up about her decision to have an abortion as a young woman, and her feud with her Dynasty co-stars, Dame Joan drew the line at Harry and Meghan.

Speaking about a time she was swamped by paparazzi while spending time with Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, she recalled: "[Diana] said, 'Is this always going to happen?' and I said, 'You just have to try to get used to it.

"She did try to avoid them, didn't she? Tragic life.”

Piers then seized his opportunity and said: "What do you make of what's going on with the British Royal Family now, with Meghan, Harry, the feud with William, Charles?"

But Dame Joan refused to rise to it, and mimicked closing a zip across her mouth.

"My lips are sealed on that subject,” she said.

"I just don't want to go on national TV and say what I think about Meghan and Harry, because look what happened to you!"

The comment got a laugh from Piers, who responded: "Well exactly, thank you!"

Dame Joan was referring to the now infamous incident of Piers walking off set of Good Morning Britain in March following a row over Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Refusing to speak further to Alex Beresford about his implication that he “didn’t believe a word she said”, Piers pulled his microphone off and left live on-air.

Later that evening, it was announced that Piers had completely quit the show and wouldn’t return.

Since then his spot on the table has been filled by a rotation of co-stars next to Susanna Reid.

A spokesperson confirmed the news and said: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

Piers later said that he had been asked by ITV bosses to make an apology about his comments surrounding Meghan, but he had refused.

He maintains that he doesn’t believe Meghan's claims that she felt suicidal during her time in the monarchy, and that a senior member of the Royal family had “expressed concern” about baby Archie’s skin colour while she was pregnant.
