Corrie’s Ruxandra Porojnicu predicts Alina heartache as Tyrone affair heats up

Tyrone Dobbs falls hard for factory worker Alina Pop in upcoming scenes on Coronation Street, betraying his long term partner Fiz Brown.

The scandalous affair storyline will no doubt divide viewers, as Tyrone's (Alan Halsall) feelings for Alina tear apart one of Weatherfield's most long-standing couples.

However, actress Ruxandra Porojnicu, who has played Alina since 2019, has her doubts about the controversial relationship standing the test of time.

Speaking with Daily Star and assorted press, the 27-year-old soap star admitted there was one major drawback to the unlikely pairing of Alina and Tyrone.

A close family unit, Tyrone shares daughter Hope Stape with Fiz (Jenny McAlpine), living with his grandmother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) in number nine Coronation Street.

Considering their age difference, Ruxandra felt the role of a stepmother, and the responsibilities it would bring, could deter Alina down the line.

She said: "I think that's very nice but on the other hand Alina is very inexperienced when it comes to relationships and this might be a bit tricky because Tyrone is a family man.

"And Alina to potentially become a stepmother, it might be a bit overwhelming for her in the future."

However, Ruxandra admitted Tyrone and Alina worked well together in other ways, with the star-crossed lovers treating one another with kindness.

She said: "Well, you know, on one hand, I believe they are [a good match] because they are both good people and they both care about each other's happiness, so they are not selfish."

Attending the same yoga class, Tyrone and Alina have become friends over recent months, but their relationship is set to change as feelings blossom.

Alina realises she has fallen for Tyrone when they fix her car together in the garage, and she tearfully confesses her feelings for him in Victoria gardens.

"She definitely feels like he's a protective figure in her life and he also makes her feel like she belongs on the street," Ruxandra said, reflecting on their unexpected romance.

Throwing a devastating spanner in the works, Corrie spoilers have revealed Fiz plans to propose to Tyrone, organising a surprise Greek wedding with the help of Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).

However, far from wedded bliss, the Weatherfield favourite looks set for heartbreak in upcoming scenes, as Alina catches Tyrone's eye.

Things are set to come to a head with a confrontation between the Corrie love rivals, leading a guilt-ridden Alina to stand her ground before Fiz.

The Romanian actress said: "She does feel guilty because Fiz was there for her when she most needed and now she feels like she shouldn't bring so much unhappiness to Fiz's life."

"When this doesn't work out as it should, and Fiz confronts Alina, then I think everything changes from Alina's perspective," Ruxandra added.

"She realises if she's not going to stand up for herself, she's going to be in a lot of trouble."

The fan reaction to the storyline will no doubt be explosive, turning loveable Tyrone into a womaniser in the eyes of many.

Ruxandra admitted Alina is also likely to fall in the firing line, as fans witness her stealing Tyrone's heart.

With that in mind, Ruxandra wishes she could advise Alina against wooing Tyrone, saying: "If I would've the opportunity to speak to her beforehand I would definitely tell her to stay away from taken men!"
