Coronation Street fans have been patiently waiting to find out the verdict of an intense murder trial. Both Kelly Neelan (played by Millie Gibson) and Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) were on trial for their roles in the death of Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni). Regular viewers of the ITV soap will remember that back in May, Seb was killed after Corey and his friends beat him and his girlfriend Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) in a brutal hate crime attack. Kelly, who was also present on the night of the assault, pleaded with Corey to stop. The murder trial came to a shocking conclusion on Friday night, with Kelly being found guilty while Corey was acquitted. Could the result of the court case send Seb’s mum Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) into a spiral as she seeks revenge? Will Abi attempt to kill Corey after the court failed to deliver justice?

Following the trial in Friday night’s instalments of Coronation Street, viewers saw Abi break down in Seb’s memorial garden, devastated that Corey had walked free.

Abi spoke to Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo), Kelly’s lawyer in the trial, about how distraught she was with the result.

She said: “Nothing matters. Nothing changes. You do a bad thing, there’s no consequences.”

“Bonk your ex, leave your fella, take drugs, get drunk, kill someone,” Abi added.

“You matter. Seb mattered,” Imran insisted, in an attempt to reassure the grieving mother.

“Then how can this happen?” Abi asked in response.

Later on, Imran tried to get Abi to calm down and return home, saying: “You loved Seb and nothing that happened before can undermine that.”

“Come on let me take you home,” the lawyer said.

But, Abi refused: “No, I can’t be indoors I need space. I feel like if I go back there things will turn normal and I don’t want normal.

“Something has got to change. Something has to happen. Something big that matters to shake this stupid world up,” she exclaimed.

Could this be a sign that Abi will soon seek revenge on Corey?

In a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other press, Abi actress Sally Carman opened up about her character’s future.

The soap star spoke about how Corey being acquitted was a big shock for Abi.

Sally explained: “I think she was daring to believe that justice could be done. That’s why she’d sort of done everything by the book.

“And with Imran, you know, saying, ‘Trust me, I’ll get something on them, you were right about Eli’ and all of that, she was hopeful.

“Which is really hard for her because she’s, you know, had a life where she’s been let down a lot.”

“So, it was just sheer will to believe that perhaps this justice will be done, but of course it isn’t,” she said.

Speaking about Abi’s anger over Corey being found not guilty, the soap star hinted the grieving mother would soon seek revenge.

Sally said: “There’s no way we can leave it at that. You know she can’t just let that go because the injustice is too much.

“She has a cutoff point and it’s been not only reached but, you know, crossed.”

Sally hinted that fans will soon see how determined Abi is to get justice for her late son.

“It’s like she’s been driven by a force that she can’t stop and it’s, it’s slightly out of her hands as well because she just has to do what she’s going to do,” the soap star revealed.

Could this mean Abi will end up plotting to kill Corey in an act of revenge? And if so will she succeed in murdering the young criminal?

Viewers will have to tune in to find out what lengths Abi will go to get justice for her murdered son.

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30 pm on ITV.
