BGTs Amanda accuses escapologist of deceit as fans left confused over water blunder

Amanda Holden accused escapologist Andrew Basso of "deceit" during his dangerous stunt on Tuesday's semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

The judge, 51, admitted she was "disappointed" after the act, who previously impressed the judges, used dark water to perform his stunt, leaving everyone unable to see what was going on.

Delivering her feedback, Amanda said: "Well, there is a lot of work and this is dangerous but I have to say you left me disappointed this evening.

"I feel that your first audition we were on the edge of our seats, I felt that it was much more intense and I think this evening because of the darkness and because of everything else, we were just sort of left wondering if there was less danger and more deceit going on in that tank."

To which her co-judge Simon Cowell was left shocked over her comments as he defended Andrew and exclaimed: "Deceit?! Like what?"

During escapologist Andrew's performance, he was locked in a shark cage before being submerged into water where he had to free himself.

However, at one part during the act, the water in the tank turned dark with viewers, the judges and audience unable to see what was going on.

Show watchers were left confused over the blunder as they pointed out they were unable to see the escapologist actually escape.

One person said: "What’s the point in this act if we can’t see him? #bgt #BritainsGotTalent."

A different account put: "What's the point if we can't see? We are watching a clock now #bgt."

Another follower wrote: "Now we can't see him… great #bgt."

While a different fan added: "If he wanted darkness he could have put a blindfold on and still let everybody see what was happening in the tank! #BGT."

It's been an eventful week for the live semi-finals and Monday's episode saw a screaming Amanda fleeing the studio during The Witch's terrifying audition.

During the show, The Witch, who was later sent home, asked the judges Amanda, Simon, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams to pick out a message in each box which had a "premonition" and would conjure their "deepest, darkest fears".

After pulling out a series of messages, the last note said "rodent" as Amanda was asked to lift the box and upon opening was met with a real rat on the judging panel.

Left screaming over the reveal, Amanda fled the studio with Alesha as The Witch scooped up the animal and started chasing Amanda, saying: "What's the matter Amanda? Rat got your tongue!"
