Avengers Endgame brought the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first enormous event to an end last year, concluding a number of characters’ storylines once and for all. However, not everything was perfect in the Disney film’s final elongated battle sequence.
During the last battle Captain America (played by Chris Evans) was fighting gallantly against Thanos (Josh Brolin).
The iconic scene had hearts racing when Cap managed to wield Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer, Mjolnir, in the attack against the galactic tyrant.
This battle did take its toll on Captain America, though.
Whilst using his signature vibranium shield to protect himself against Thanos, Captain America found himself with a lot of his shield broken beyond repair.
Thankfully, the cavalry was just around the corner, as the rest of the Avengers came through Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) portals.
But now, in a wide shot of the band all getting back together, viewers have noticed a hugely glaring issue with Cap’s shield.
A fan on Reddit posted an image of the film’s wide shot with the Avengers reunited, before pointing out Cap’s shield was inexplicably repaired.
Marvel fan Jus10Sch pointed out: “Avengers: Endgame – In the scene when all the snapped characters come back in a big wide shot, Captain America’s shield is visibly whole after being broken by Thanos’s blade moments ago.”
The image itself shows Captain America staring back at his comrades in disbelief after they arrived to save his bacon.
And, yes, his shield is a perfect circle once again, rather than the broken mess fans saw shortly before.
One fan commented with a theory, saying: “Probably a shot the VFX team gambled that they could skip, due to both the length of the movie, and the hard deadline they had.”
Thankfully, although this will certainly bring fans out of the film for a second, it isn’t entirely film-destroying.

Recently one of the film’s VFX specialists spoke out about a decision taken in creating the film’s trailer.
Luke Armstrong recently told Express.co.uk about a shot in the Avengers Endgame trailer which led to much discussion.
He said: “I’ve been on forums on Reddit for films that have been released that I’ve worked on, commenting on shots that I’ve been part of, saying, ‘Why didn’t they do this?’
“It’s like it was a decision made by somebody but it’s quite interesting. People definitely do care a lot more than you’d expect.
“That’s the great thing about the world of films as people are so passionate about stories and all the little details.
“It’s like when Game of Thrones came out and there was that great big scandal about the coffee cup in the corner.
“It’s so easily done but people were very passionate about that.”
Avengers Endgame is available on Disney Plus now.
