Ant McPartlin steps aside for Holly Willoughby as I’m A Celebrity wins TV BAFTA

I’m A Celebrity host Ant McPartlin made a sweet gesture during the BAFTA TV Awards 2019, as the show won the award for Reality and Constructed Factual.

The ITV presenter joined co-host Dec Donnelly and stand-in host Holly Willoughby on stage to celebrate with the cast and crew.

Ant didn’t host the 2018 series, as he took a 10-month break from his TV hosting duties to focus on recovery, admitting himself to rehab, before he returned to screens earlier this year on Britain's Got Talent.

Holly was confirmed to be hosting the show for that series, with Ant set to return in 2019.

On Sunday night, all three hosts headed on to the stage to accept the award, only for Ant to make a sweet gesture.

Ant stepped aside and stood back with the rest of the crew, making way for Holly and Dec to head to the front.

Holly was taken aback by the moment, as he continued to applaud the win.

Dec then took to the mic to thank the crew and fans for their support, excited over their latest win.

He then thanked Holly for helping him out last year, before revealing Ant was “reluctant” to go on stage having not been a part of the last series.

But Dec sweetly insisted he was still deserving of celebrating the win, as he applauded Holly’s efforts in the last series.

He said: “I’d like to thank Holly for helping me out last year, she did a fantastic job standing in for Ant who reluctantly come up here tonight.

“There he is, he’s still part of the team so I wanted him up here to celebrate with us.”

Fans noticed the moment and praised him, with one viewer commenting: “Really sweet the way Ant was pushing Holly forward to accept the award.”
