Alison Hammond totally forgets This Morning anniversary with Dermot O’Leary

Time flies when you’re having fun – just ask This Morning co-hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

On today’s instalment of the long-running ITV show (Friday 7 January), Dermot blindsided his ‘TV wife’ Alison by revealing it had been twelve months since they first started hosting together.

But it seems the milestone wasn’t as etched in Alison’s mind, as the 46 year old admitted she’d totally forgotten the significance of the date.

“Allow me this brief moment of indulgence,” Dermot, 48, said to viewers tuning in at home, before turning to Alison, “did you know that today is our one-year anniversary?”

Alison’s jaw dropped as she shouted, “No! Oh my goodness, I didn’t know!”

As 48 year old Dermot joked that they’d ‘passed their probation’ period, he then said he had the celebrations covered, as he surprised Alison with a cake to mark the milestone.

The former X Factor presenter: “We have a little anniversary cake. Happy anniversary!”

As he sat back down, the dad of one then quipped: “It’s been wonderful because remember when we used to hate each other? Isn’t it great now!”

The pair then erupted into giggles as Alison replied: “We never used to hate each other. We always loved each other.”

Alison and Dermot then admired the personalised cake, before blowing out the candle together and revealing what they’d wished for.

Alison said to Dermot: “I wished for another ten years” as Dermot replied with his tongue firmly in his cheek: “I just wished for another year!”

The pair, who joined the morning show alongside regular hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, then went on to relive their time working together.

Alison said: “It’s been good. I can’t believe it, I didn’t even know [the anniversary was today]!”

Alison recently opened up about their relationship both on and off our screens, likening their partnership to an ‘arranged marriage’ which blossomed into a true friendship.

The ex Big Brother contestant explained: “We literally were thrown together, like an arranged marriage. It took about two months before we became comfortable.”
