Wales vs Ireland LIVE: Latest updates from Six Nations fixture

Wales welcome Ireland to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff this afternoon as both sides get their Six Nations campaigns under way.

Saturday’s action saw Scotland secure a first win (11-6) over England at Twickenham since 1983, while France demolished Italy 50-10. And the first round is wrapped up today when Waynce Pivac’s team host Andy Farrell’s Ireland. This afternoon’s visitors were 24-14 winners against Wales in last year’s edition of the competition when the nations met in Ireland, and they will hope for a similar result this time around as they look to improve upon their third-place finish in the 2020 tournament, in which Wales finished down in fifth.

Ireland will be without forwards Caelan Doris and Quinn Roux in Cardiff today, however. Leinster No. 8 Doris, who was arguably his country’s standout performer during the Autumn Nations Cup, is not being risked due to symptoms of concussion, while South Africa-born lock Roux has a neck complaint. Pivac, entering his second Six Nations as Wales coach, will hope his side can capitalise and finally show some elite quality under the New Zealander. Follow all the build-up, live match updates and post-game reaction below as Wales host Ireland in the 2021 Six Nations.
