Erik ten Hag told Man Utd that he needed ‘almost entire new XI’ before embarrassing defeat to Arsenal

ERIK TEN HAG reportedly told Manchester United chiefs he needs to conduct an almost entire squad overhaul.

And that was BEFORE Man United's dismal 3-1 loss to Premier League rivals Arsenal on Saturday.

Ten Hag was named as Ralf Rangnick's successor to take over when the season ends last week.

And United were trounced by the Gunners in their first game since the club made Ten Hag's appointment public.

But the Dutchman was aware that he needed to purge the club of its under-performing stars ahead of the clash, according to The Independent.

If Ten Hag gets his way, United's first team will look unrecognisable next season, the report continued.

It comes after Rangnick declared that United could axe TEN players with only the goalkeeper's position safe.

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant could all leave for FREE when their contracts end.

The likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could all be on their way out too.

And SunSport revealed that Ten Hag has already lined up seven stars to come in when he shifts United's dead-weight.

In defence, Noussair Mazraoui could follow Ten Hag from Ajax to Old Trafford.

Paris Saint-Germain's Presnel Kimpembe could also be targeted.

In midfield, West Ham main man Declan Rice is a key target, as is Wolves' Ruben Neves.

RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku is also a target after his sensational season.

While in attack, Tottenham striker Harry Kane is Ten Hag's top transfer target.

And Ten Hag will be handed a £200million war-chest to bring his United vision to life.
