And as he seeks more game time, PSG and AC Milan are the winger's most likely suitors according to the bookies.

Betfair have priced the two European giants at 6/1 to be the Ivory Coast international's next club as he seeks more frequent football.

If the winger were to become available it is expected they would face competition from Serie A sides and Roma and Lazio.

But shock switches to Premier League sides Everton, Newcastle and Wolves are also options as outsiders.

Pepe said he hopes to play more football to allow him to smile again.

He told Canal+ via Metro: "My goal is to play more, have a little more playing time.

"A player who plays is happy. For me, I would like to play a little more to find a smile again.

"[Arteta] wants me to be 100 per cent focused during the 90 minutes of the match.

"Afterwards, I see during training that I will be a substitute the following weekend.

"But the coach speaks to me, he also has assistants who are there for that.

"But it is frustrating for any player to be on the bench.

"The coach makes his choices. It’s up to me to show him that I deserve that chance."

And by the looks of the bookies' current market, Pepe will have options across Europe.

Betfair spokesperson Katie Bayliss said: "With Pepe’s frustration at game time following his move to Arsenal, his next likely destination may well be a move to Italy’s Serie A, with AC Milan and Roma near the top of the market to be his next club."
