Queen tours Chelsea Flower Show in luxury golf cart amid mobility issues

Is it high tee time?

Queen Elizabeth II couldn’t stop smiling as she cruised in on a luxury golf cart at the Chelsea Flower Show in London after health concerns caused her to miss several royal engagements over the past few months.

The 96-year-old Queen appeared happier than ever as she sat comfortably in the vehicle, manufactured by the Danish brand Garia. The four-seated cruiser, dubbed the “Rolls-Royce” of golf carts, reportedly costs nearly $78,000.

Complete with a mini-fridge and touch-screen map device, the decked-out buggy is battery-powered and can travel for 50 miles before needing a recharge.

The Queen, who was accompanied by a driver and a supervisor, wore a floral dress with a pink overcoat. She accessorized with white gloves and black loafers.

“Adjustments have been made for the Queen’s comfort,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

The Queen’s happy demeanor comes nearly a week after she made a surprise appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. It was her first public appearance since missing several events in the past few months.

She was hospitalized for a night in October 2021, though the reason remains unclear. The Queen also started using a cane “for her comfort,” a source told Page Six at the time.

She caused even more of a stir when she contracted COVID-19 in February. Fortunately, by March, she was fully recovered and back to her royal duties.

But a few weeks ago, she canceled a scheduled appearance due to what Buckingham Palace described as “episodic mobility problems.”

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, having ruled for 70 years.

While she has appeared to be in good spirits during her recent appearances, reports have surfaced that she could be planning on abdicating the throne to 73-year-old son Prince Charles quite soon. The Prince of Wales’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, would then take on the title of “Queen Consort.”
