Lady Gaga gears up for the Met Gala in a huge dress and tiny bag

Lady Gaga kicked off her role as Met Gala co-chair a day early.

The pop star, 33, proved she’s fully prepared to tackle the 2019 event’s “camp” theme, sharing a photo on Instagram of her Sunday night pre-gala look, which consisted of an enormous cocktail dress paired with an itsy-bitsy purse.

The voluminous black and white striped look is from Marc Jacobs’ fall 2019 collection and is made out of ruffled plissé silk organza with an ostrich feather embellishment at the throat.

The Oscar winner paired the outlandish look with a custom Philip Treacy fascinator made of synthetic horsehair, a $6,000 Delvaux micro-bag from the brand’s limited-edition “Brillant Charms” line, Tiffany & Co. pear-shaped drop earrings and a pair of her signature, sky-high platform boots.

In April, the “Shallow” singer was named one of the co-hosts of tonight’s Anna Wintour-helmed event, alongside Serena Williams and Harry Styles.

This year’s theme is a play on Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp,’” which launched the term — referring to a love of over-the-top exaggeration and the intersection of high and low art — into the mainstream.
