At this point in her career, there’s not a lot of firsts left for Gigi Hadid. But the model did manage to find one thing still on her to do list — making her debut as the new face of Burberry.
The Thomas Burberry Monogram collection campaign, which debuted on Tuesday, is a first for both the British heritage brand and the 23-year-old catwalk star who just made her first runway appearance for the brand at its fall 2019 show in February.
The line was inspired by 20th-century logo motifs created by the house’s founder, Thomas Burberry. Current creative director Riccardo Tisci rediscovered the designs in the brand’s archives when he took over the label, prompting him to create a new house code of his own in collaboration with graphic designer Peter Saville which launched in August 2018.
For the series of images photographed by Nick Knight, Hadid transforms into a girl, boy, lady, and gentleman meant to represent, “the four distinct characters at the heart of the fashion house,” according to a Burberry press release.
All the pieces in the collection will be available for purchase beginning May 22.
