She has joined the cast of Line of Duty as DCI Joanne Davidson tasked with the unsolved murder of journalist Gail Vella.

But actress Kelly Macdonald has recently revealed that she had never watched an episode of the hit BBC drama before joining the cast for the much-anticipated series six.

How old is she?

Kelly Macdonald was born on February 23 1976 which makes her 45 years old.

Where is she from?

She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but moved to Aberdeen when she was five.

What else has she starred in?

Kelly was working in a pub as a barmaid when she spotted an open audition advert for the 1996 film Trainspotting.

The actress landed the role of Diane alongside Ewan McGregor and resumed her role in the bar after filming was over.

However, Kelly paved her acting career and went onto star in period drama Gosford Park, State of Play, Boardwalk Empire and Black Mirror.

She was nominated for a Golden Globe and awarded an Emmy for her role in The Girl in the Café (2005).

Kelly is also best known for her role as scullery maid Evangeline in Nanny McPhee (2005) where she marries Colin Firth’s character Cedric Brown.

Meanwhile she also starred as Laura in Some Voices (2000) alongside Daniel Craig who played Ray.

Is she married?

Kelly tied the knot to Travis rock band bassist Dougie Payne in August 2003 but the couple split in 2017.

Does she have children?

The actress still lives in Glasgow and shares two sons with ex-husband Dougie, Theodore, eight, and 13-year-old Freddie.
