Celeb-favourite make-up brand launches clever new eyebrow app that lets you find your ‘perfect brow’

Do you struggle to find the perfect shape and style for your eyebrows? When grooming our brows, it’s so easy to lose your natural shape from over-plucking, or fill them in too dark until you’re left with “caterpillar brows” – we’ve all been there.

But eyebrows are incredibly important for defining your face, and picking the right shape and products can make a huge difference to your appearance.

Luckily, leading make-up brand Anastasia Beverly Hills is here to help, as it has launched a brand new eyebrow app that aims to change your brow game forever.

Available for iPhone users now, and Android users from the 15th March, beauty fans everywhere will be able to find their “perfect brow” on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow App.

So how does it work? The Brow App mimics the magic of an ABH salon or make-up counter by providing shoppers with beauty tips, tricks and product recommendations so they can get professional results from home.

After a quick introduction from the brand’s founder and CEO Anastasia Soare, you’ll begin by answering a few quick questions about your current eyebrow shape, style and experience with grooming them.

The next step is to determine your preferred brow look – with options such as “bold and ombre”, “feathered and refined” and “fuller-looking and dimensional”.

Next, the app analyses your facial structure using a clever augmented reality tool to understand the brow shape that is most suited to you, taking into account the information you’ve provided.

So how does it compare to the real thing? Beauty assistant Emma Hawkins put this new beauty app to the test in a bid to create perfect brows.

Emma says:

If you asked me what my desert island beauty product would be, it’s Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade, £19 here. I’ve tried out a whole bunch of brow products over the years but having used Dip Brow since my teens, it’s a hard habit to break.

So when I heard that the brand had launched an app that would help me achieve my perfect brow style from home, I jumped at the chance – as I must admit, without the help of my brow technician, I’ve forgotten what shape my eyebrows should be.

After falling victim to the over-tweezing trend in my younger years, I tend to fill in my brows to fake a much-fuller look with a defined arched, trying my best to make them match up – although most mornings they tend to look more like sisters than twins! Armed with ABH’s new virtual tool, I hoped that the brand could give me some tips and tricks for achieving my perfect brow shape – and it didn’t disappoint.

The app has some impressive features – from a nifty mirror feature to help you draw on your shape to a library of brow styles to take inspiration from.

The star of the show, though, is the virtual try-on tool that allowed me to test out my personalised brows based on the information I handed over in the quiz section of the app.

When asked about my preferred brow look, I went for the “feathered and refined” option, which is halfway between a bushy and a defined style – my favourite.

After some high-tech facial scanning, ABH revealed my “perfect brow” – and while I may have questioned the gingery-auburn shade they matched me up with, the actual shape was quite flattering.

The brand determined that I suit a “High Arch” style the most, and I can’t say I disagree. While I’ve dabbled in multiple brow trends, an arched effect definitely looks best on me.

Comparing my typical brow style to the app’s recommendation has also made me rethink my application skills. I’ve been emphasising the tail of my brow far too much, and my arch is slightly higher than it needs to be.

My thoughts? Whether you’re a total beginner or a brow expert, this nifty app is a great tool to help you achieve your ideal shape and style. While I won’t be switching my Dip Brow shade to Auburn anytime soon, the handy mirror feature might actually have a place in my morning make-up routine.
