Bride slammed for ‘humiliating’ guest who doesn’t have date for wedding

A bride has been slated online for begging strangers on the internet to date her single friend because he "needs someone to bring to our wedding".

The American bride-to-to too to Facebook group 2022 Brides, saying she was "trying to play matchmaker" because it was "more fun than wedding planning".

She asked other social media users: "Does anyone have any single girl friends in the philly/ Jersey area?!

"Our friend needs a date for our wedding. He is really my fiance's friend but he is super nice and hilarious!

"He is 31, has a job and a side job and his own house! He also has an adorable lab who he cares for so much it's adorable!"

She added: "Let me know if anyone is interested. He's been having such bad luck finding girls and we feel bad for him!"

The post included pictures of the her guy pal who she was trying to set up.

The Facebook post was then shared on Reddit's Wedding Shaming forum, under the topic "foul friends".

Commenting on it, people labelled the post "disgusting", "so embarrassing" and "completely f***ed up and humiliating".

Meanwhile others accused the bride of "single shaming" her fiance's pal and asked why he couldn't just come to the wedding on his own.

One person fumed: "I'm perpetually single, and if someone did this to me, I'd be beyond humiliated.

"I get it. I'm single and I can't find anyone to love me. No need to broadcast it all over the f***ing internet."

While a second added: "This is disgusting. 'We feel bad for him! Girl, I only feel bad for him because he has friends who think being single is something to be sad about and take it upon themselves to publicly shame him for living his life as a single man."

A third chimed in: "Way to make your fiance's friend look pathetic and incompetent."

While a fourth added: "I wonder if he is still going to the wedding after this".

Others also asked if the guy even wanted a date.

Amongst the backlash, there were some who could see where the woman was coming from buy just said she'd gone about it the wrong way.

This included one person who wrote: "I mean it seems like her intentions are to do something nice, but… there's a lot wrong here unless they got his permission to do this."

Another bride who was recently slated was one who asked her family to pay £10,000 for her wedding, and those who didn't were disinvited.

After realising she had to pay a £10,800 cost for her wedding, the bride pleaded with family members to contribute.

Those uninvited after they didn't contribute anything to her wedding included her brother and her grandmother.

Eek, you've gotta be loaded to be her pal then.
