Simplistic silhouettes inspired by vintage military and workwear garments, but translated to a modern lifestyle with high-tech fabrics and soft draping, are the signature of designers Yukiko Ode and Hideaki Yoshihara, and their latest offering was no exception. An asymmetrical, bias-cut cape in black and beige houndstooth with accents of bright red was inspired by a 1950s British Army sniper cape, while a vintage wool work jacket was reimagined as long, collarless coats and vests that hit below the hip.
Bold horizontal stripes, pops of a dark orange color, and skirts trimmed on both sides with long fringe ensured the collection was always polished and chic, but also held some surprises. Chunky khaki knits with geometric bands of ivory and black merged comfort and style in the same way a soft faux shearling, shawl collar coat did. As always, there was plenty of functional outerwear as well, such as a Pertex pullover with a fleece lining, water-repellent zippers, and a hood that tucks away into the collar. Relaxed trousers, a ribbed knit skirt, and another Pertex jacket were cinched at the waist and accented with carabinier belts in a nod to the outdoors. Soft faux suede coats, dresses and tops in gray-beige rounded out the collection with a luxe texture and casual elegance.
