Rio Ferdinand has opened up about how he and wife Kate Ferdinand have been adjusting to life as new parents after welcoming their son Cree in December.
Speaking on Gabby Logan’s podcast, Mid Point, Rio, 42, gave an update on the adorable tot as he candidly discussed fatherhood.
“He’s growing massively. He’s eating like a toddler. He’s pooing like an adult. So it’s brilliant at the minute!” he joked.

“No, it’s great. All we’re searching for is just a bit of routine. You get bags under your eyes. These kids come out of nowhere and just absolutely ruin every bit of structure you have in your life.”
Rio, who is already dad to Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, nine, from his marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison, went on to say Kate, 29, has adapted well to the challenges of motherhood.
“She lives and dies by making sure that things are really mapped out and when that doesn’t happen for her, she sometimes can be a little bit all over the place. It can throw her,” Rio explained.

“This has been a definite shock in that sense of the word. But she’s really adaptable. She adapts to things very quickly.”
When it comes to having a newborn in lockdown, he added: “There is no way out. For every body. For Kate and myself. There’s no way out of this.
"You’ve got to deal with every situation. You can’t just say, ‘I’m going to go out for a little while, go and meet a couple of mates.’ There’s none of that going on.”

The former footballer added that his children are enjoying having another sibling, saying: “They’re loving it. Especially Tia. She’s just wants to be like giving everything and all to this baby. She’s like Mother Teresa.”
Former TOWIE star Kate has been brutally honest online about motherhood and has been praised by fans for her frankness.
Opening up about her challenges with her Instagram followers, Kate candidly admitted how hard she’s found things. “I’ve always been super emotional – whatever I’m feeling, everyone always knows. I like to wear my heart on my sleeve,” she said.
“Since giving birth, my emotions are still all over the place. I cry often – I feel so happy with our beautiful new addition but often have moments of feeling overwhelmed. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going most days.”
Along with the heightened emotions being a new mum can bring, she confessed that being in lockdown has made it even more difficult.
Sharing a note from her stepchildren on Instagram which read, “Pls stop crying I love u,” she wrote alongside: “Just when I thought the screaming baby would drown out the sound of my tears, I get this through the door as if I wasn’t emotional enough.”
