Phillip Schofield is transforming the garage at his family home into a spare home, according to reports.

This Morning star Phil, 58, is said to be making the changes to his £2.6million mansion, which he shares with his wife Stephanie Lowe.

Phillip, who recently marked 11 years of presenting This Morning with a throwback, is said to have plans to build a two bedroom house within the grounds of his Oxfordshire home, with a sprawling kitchen replacing one of the garages.

Plans are understood to show floor to ceiling windows, which will oust “existing storage openings” and a sitting room that will be the focal point of the build.

The pad will also consist of a second bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

Speaking of the plans, a source told The Sun Online: “Phillip and Steph are getting on really well and are in no rush to make any big decisions.

“This annex can be used by any member of the family at any time — and is a great investment long-term, adding value to the property.”

Phillip, who recently announced his autobiography, was reported to have moved out of his family home earlier this year and into a flat in London.

As he posted the snap on Instagram, he wrote in the caption: “Murder mystery night… we’re all in character and taking it very seriously”.

In the comments, one follower slammed him for appearing to break lockdown rules after visiting his family while staying at the London flat.

The follower scathed: “So you moved out but you’re allowed to visit your family? But I can’t go any visit my children and grandchildren. Just the rich or famous that are allowed, good to know,” followed by an angry face emoji.

This Morning host Phil came out as gay during an emotional This Morning appearance earlier this year.

His statement read: "You never know what’s going on in someone’s seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their wellbeing – and so you won’t know what has been consuming me for the last few years. With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”
