Kylie Minogue opens up on emotional Neighbours return ahead of Aussie soaps end

Kylie Minogue has lifted the lid on her “emotional” return to Neighbours as fans prepare to wave goodbye to the soap for good.

The Aussie singer shot to fame for her role as Charlene Robinson on the soap in the 1980s, with the popular blonde set to reprise her role alongside co-star Jason Donovan as the show bows out after over 30 years on our screens.

Both Kylie and Jason will be making their highly anticipated return to Ramsay Street for an emotional goodbye as she show finally wraps after 38 years.

After arriving on our screens in Neighbours, Kylie went on to start in Hollywood blockbusters such as Moulin Rouge and become a global pop superstar in her own right with over three decades (and counting!) of hits.

The petite star recently opened up about the experience of returning to Ramsay Street as she described the process as "lovely and emotional”.

Speaking on Today Extra, she said: "It was lovely and emotional. Driving into Ramsay Street was quite something."

When asked how it felt being back on the iconic set, Kylie said: "Firstly, where's all that time gone? Secondly, everything looks exactly the same. Thirdly, Scott, Charlene, Jane, Harold – it all just came flooding back."

Whilst the star did remind tight lipped about her final scenes and what awaits fans, she did admit that there was a ”lot of talk about memories".

"There was a lot of talking about memories and going back in time," she shared of the experience.

The show’s executive producer Jason Herbison had previously teased a little about what awaited fans as he confirmed the return of Kylie and Jason on the show’s Instagram account.

Jason admitted that the pair would be back, adding: "Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them.

"We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I'm sure it will be for our viewers."

Many fans were left feeling emotional about the news, with many applauding the end of an era with a nod back to the iconic duo.

One fan wrote: ”Amazing way to finish the show off, hats off to Kylie & Jason for been part of #CelebratingNeighbours. This makes me happy to see him and @kylieminogue back on the show. Tissues will be at the ready. This is where I first became a huge fan of Jason seeing him on Neighbours on his first episode."

Another added: "ooooo exciting. But I'd rather the show just continues.”

Neighbours will end later this Summer, with the final scenes set to be filmed in June.
