Presenter Julia Bradbury underwent a mastectomy earlier this month after being diagnosed with breast cancer in September. The 51-year-old had her left breast along with a six centimetre tumour removed. Since her surgery, she has been going for walks to keep up with her exercise, but admitted it hadn’t been easy.

Taking to Twitter today, Julia shared a video of herself walking in her garden while wearing pyjamas.

The presenter told fans she had started to walk a little further each week, as she continues her recovery.

Today however, the mother-of-three said she was out of breath after five minutes.

She wrote: “Walking a little bit further every week… strange to think that a month ago I was striding up mountains & now I’m puffed out after 5 mins in the garden but I’m really trying to take the docs advice & not push it too far.

“Still amazing to #Getoutdoors #recovery #breastcancer.”

In the clip, the Countryfile star thanked her fans for their ongoing support.

She added: “Thanks, as ever, for all your words and love and encouragement and sending love and light back to all of you.

“Look, I’m wearing different pyjamas, aren’t they lovely?

“I don’t wear them all day everyday, well, not all the time anyway,” she laughed.

“If ever there was an excuse to wear pyjamas, it’s now.”

Many of Julia’s 148,000 followers flocked to her post to send their support.

Virginia Vale commented: “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Won’t be long before you back on those mountains – vital you don’t over do things… best way to recover and body to mend.”

Stuart Keys wrote: “I was the same after my kidney donation. Couldn’t walk for more than 5 mins without the pain kicking in but it really does get better.

“Very brave woman and I wish you all the best in your recovery. X.”

Jayne Davies added: “Little steps (excuse the pun) recovery is so important. Don’t rush it. Stay positive and enjoy your achievements each day.”

On October 11, Julia shared an update from her hospital bed post-operation.

She told her fans that while she was “relieved” the operation was over, she felt “sad” that “such brutal treatment is necessary”.

The mother-of-three added she needed a drain to channel surplus blood from the surgery and had to wear a mastectomy designed bra.

Speaking to the Mail Online last month, Julia defiantly said she would not let cancer ruin her life.

“I still need to be a mum to my kids, a partner and a working woman, I’m still Julia,” she spilled.

“My plan is to come through it and out the other side and I hope to be able to do that bravely enough so that women who are scared to get tested, to get a diagnosis, go ahead.

“I want to be able to give them a wave and say, ‘Look, it’s horrible, but you can do it too’.”
