Strictly Come Dancing pro Aljaz Skorjanec and his wife Janette Manrara, also a professional dancer, have opened up about their relationship with food today. The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, said when they were younger they could eat what they wanted without worrying about putting on weight as they were constantly dancing, but things have changed as they’ve grown older.
Janette, 38, who recently quit the BBC dancing contest in order to present the spin-off show It Takes Two, said it was all about portion control now.
However, her husband, 31, called out the TV star after she said she preferred to eat tapas-style meals, a little taster of lots of different things, instead of one large meal.
She admitted that her restaurant habit was her husband’s pet peeve.
Aljaz said rather than eating to survive, she was “entertaining her taste buds”.
“I know this is a pet peeve for you,” she began as they spoke on their Twist and Shout podcast.
“I go to a restaurant and I order a starter, I’ll order a main, I’ll order a side dish and then I order a dessert but I won’t finish any of it,” she explained.
“You are completely wrong, cause that’s not portion control,” Aljaz pointed out.
“I like tasting all these different bits but I don’t finish any of them but my taste buds get bored, maybe it’s not portion control, maybe I just get bored,” she added.
Their conversation led to the realisation that Janette would prefer a tasting menu.
She joked that the podcast was like therapy, helping them to get to the bottom of their thought processes on various subjects.
In addition to their joint podcast, Aljaz is preparing to return to the BBC dance floor later this year.
Meanwhile, Jannette has been a regular on BBC Morning Live.

She was joined by her former dance partner Dr Ranj Singh, who turned 42 the previous week.
Also at the eatery was ex pro Joanne Clifton.
The group enjoyed a Motown extravaganza at a bar in London.
“HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY USA!!! To all my family and friends back home, hope you are celebrating safely and enjoying yourselves!
