Eric, 76, is said to have cut contact with Ruth after hearing that she had been sharing aspects of his private life on her social media channels.

The Yardbirds and of Cream member and his daughter’s relationship was said to be irreparable according to those close to them.

However, it has since emerged that the father and daughter are now involved in one another’s lives again.

In recent years, Ruth has shared snaps of her father to her Instagram page, sharing a video of Eric performing in 2017, stating she is proud of the musician.

On Father’s Day in 2020, Ruth shared a picture of her son with Eric, saying that her family “love him so much” and that they were missing him.

Ruth and Eric’s relationship is believed to have come to a bitter end after she revealed he had arrived at his 70th birthday party wearing a Kermit the frog costume, as well as sharing images of his home.

She later told her social media followers “we no longer have a relationship” after she requested that they stop tagging her in tweets related to her father.

Ruth said: “I’ve gone through a really rough time,” reports the Daily Mail.

She went on to add: “I’m about to navigate my way through a divorce — a decision that neither of us has taken lightly.”

Ruth continued: “All we want for each other is happiness, even if that can’t be achieved together.

“We will continue to work together to co-parent our children and I hope we can do that well.”

Discussing her relationship with Eric, she explained: “I’m always checking in with him, he’s doing really good, I’m very grateful for that, he’s itching to get back out there like all musicians.”

Despite their improved relationship, Ruth was only publicly acknowledged as Eric’s daughter when she attended the funeral of his son, Conor, in 1991.

Conor, who was just four-years-old at the time of his death, had fallen from the 49th floor of a New York apartment block.

Ruth had been at the funeral alongside her mother, Yvonne Kelly, who engaged in an affair with Eric while he was married to Pattie Boyd.

Yvonne had reached out to the rockstar and asked that he become more involved in their daughter’s life.

Eric, who sang at Ruth’s wedding in 2011 credits his daughter for helping him get over the tragic death of his son.

In his 2007 autobiography, Clapton: The Autobiography, he said his daughter had made him feel “valid, unique, and strong.”

He went on to say: “Yvonne knew that it would help and it was true – I was able to hold a child again and to be held by a child.

“Ruth has been a tremendous support, I had no idea how much power a child could have on an adult life.” has approached Eric Clapton for comment.
