Love Island star Demi Jones has unveiled her new surgery scar after her stitches were removed.

The 22 year old underwent surgery amid her battle with thyroid cancer, however the red headed beauty was in high spirits as she shared a "positive" update with her Instagram followers.

Updating her fans on her cancer battle, Demi said: "I had some amazing news yesterday.

“I am trying to do this thing with anything cancer related – I am trying to go through it, digest it and understand with me and my friends and family first and then come on social media and discuss my journey.

“So, yesterday I went to have my stitches out, but again the scar is looking amazing.

“My results came back from the other side of my thyroid and it wasn’t cancer on the other side.”

"So, we have got the tumour removed, there is no cancer on this side so that's looking really, really optimistic.

“I still have to have my iodine treatment in about a month's time and have further consultations to see where we are going to go from here but it’s looking positive.”

Demi looked amazing as she headed out in a figure-hugging black dress to celebrate the good news.

Recently, in an Instagram Story shared from her hospital bed, the reality star said: "I just thought I'd update you as I'm finally awake and just had my lunch."

Panning the camera to the bandage and tube on her neck, she continued: "So I've had my full thyroidectomy. You can see the tube coming out of my neck there, which is probably the most painful thing about it.

"It goes to this drain here, which takes up all the blood.

"I feel surprisingly better this time. I don't know whether that's because I've been through it and knew what to expect."

Demi once again reiterated that the hole in her neck was "really painful".

Looking on the bright side, Demi told her followers: "The surgeon told me that over the past few weeks there's been a significant increase in the number of young girls getting checked at the department.

"He thinks it's because of me, which is absolutely amazing. So, make sure you're getting your lumps checked."

This comes after Demi revealed that she would have to take hormones for the rest of her life following her cancer treatment.

Speaking to New! magazine ahead of the operation, she said: "I've got to take some everyday hormone tablets too, just to make sure all my hormones are level, as my thyroid won't be there anymore."
