Bruce Springsteen‘s 2001 song, “The Rising” saw a sudden jump in sales after it was used at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
Written as an emotional response to the 9/11 attacks, the song was the title track off Springsteen’s 2001 album and also featured as the soundtrack to a segment in a program titled “Rise Up,” which included a brief appearance by Springsteen himself, alongside his wife, Patti Scialfa.
On Monday, the day that the segment aired, the song amassed nearly 1,000 download sales, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, second only to the 2,000 downloads it received on September 11, 2011, the 10-year-anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack.
“Come on up for #therising,” Springsteen wrote alongside a retweet of a tweet published by Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
