She also teases her upcoming Disney+ movie, ‘Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe.’
She may be 33 now, but those Disney bonds are strong for Ashley Tisdale.
The singer spoke with TooFab ahead of the release of her new album, "Symptoms," and while you can read all about her music here, we also had to throw it back to her "High School Musical" days for a second.
Tisdale made headlines when she reunited with former costar Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella last month, a sighting many that made fans of the Disney movies lose their minds.
"I think it’s because we’ve just been friends for so long. We are like the ultimate duo. We have a very genuine friendship and you don’t see that," said Tisdale of why fans just love seeing them together all these years later. "It’s rare to work with someone years ago and still be friends with them. I think it just makes everyone so excited to see us."
"For me, she’s like the Queen of Coachella, so whenever I’m there I have to spend time with her,: she added. "I literally joked with her like, ‘You have to kiss the ring,’ she laughs about it, but she’s such a good time and I just love spending time with her."
It’s been 11 years since the last "HSM" movie, but the franchise is getting a revival of sorts on Disney’s upcoming Disney+ streaming platform. While it remains to be seen if stars from the OG movies will pop up, Tisdale is confirmed to appear in another project for the streaming service.
The actress will reprise her role as the voice of Candace Flynn from Disney’s animated series "Phineas & Ferb," a gig she previously held from 2007 to 2015. A new movie, titled "Candace Against the Universe," follows the titular duo as they attempt to save their sister from aliens.
"I’m definitely surprised when something is very successful and lasts a long time. We did that animation for 9 years, which is a long time. They still want more," Tisdale said, excitedly.
"Two years we took off and I wasn’t recording anymore, I really missed it. There is this something about Candace where she is so crazy and you get to be so creative with her, that it is so fun to play her," she continued. "Doing this movie I was very excited because it is Candace, it’s called ‘Candace Against the Universe,’ so it’s really Candace’s movie and she’s just like a whole other level."
After that film drops, Tisdale says she’s "so open" to doing more down the line. "Animations are honestly one of the best jobs ever."
Tisdale’s album, "Symptoms," is out now.
