Strictly: Adam Thomas on his chances of winning
Adam Thomas has been feeling the heat on Strictly, and fellow contestant Zara McDermott’s boyfriend Sam Thompson has documented the tense moment he saw when the Emmerdale actor’s first dance with Luba Mushtuk played out.
Speaking on his Hits Radio show, Made in Chelsea star Sam exclaimed of the untelevised moment: “I looked at his face and he looked like he was about to cry.
“Then his partner said, ‘You understand what we’re doing?’ and he looked up at his partner and said ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’ – and then the music started. It was absolutely brilliant!” the 31-year-old enthused.
Emmerdale and Waterloo Road star Adam had previously told of how he felt he might have “bitten off more than I can chew” as he combined TV rehearsals with Strictly ones.
Before the show kicked off, the 35-year-old had posted a frantic Instagram update begging his one million folllowers to “help meeeee”.

“I’ll be finishing Waterloo Road tomorrow and then I’ll be off again to do some more dancing and then we go again – I don’t know what I’ve got myself into,” he confided earlier this month.
He warned: “Safe to say I’m not smiling anymore!”, adding that his wife had been leaving spaghetti dishes in the fridge for him as his schedule had become so hectic.
Meanwhile, back on Hits Radio, Sam was filling in his listeners about what it felt like to take a front row seat last week as the first Strictly performances aired.
His girlfriend Zara McDermott – the first Love Island star ever to appear on the show – is one of this year’s contestants.

Sam had joked that it would be her parents using her allocation of two free tickets per night for “the majority” of the live shows and that he’d “wait outside” if he had to, but thanks to his radio show, he’s been at the heat of the action.
When he saw Zara get up onstage with partner Graziano di Prima for a performance of the Cha Cha Cha, he was overcome with emotion.
“I couldn’t believe how proud I was – I actually shed a tear at one point it was just amazing!” he exclaimed.
However, on Monday, he’d posted snaps of himself in the gym, boasting that he looked “unreal”, which led fans to accuse him of making a “cry for help”.
He told Hits Radio listeners: “I put [a post] on the ‘gram and within half a second of putting it up I had hundreds of messages from people being like ‘Zara dances one weekend with her new partner and you’re putting up gym photos are you?’”
Sam added: “Thousands of messages flooding in like: ‘This is a cry for help if I’ve ever seen one.’
“I didn’t even think about it when I posted it but now it’s all I can think about.”
He jokingly concluded: “What happens when I cook pasta?! I like pasta but everyone will be like: ‘Look at you trying to be Graziano!'”
